Workshop: Tropical Containers
Thursday, June 5, 1 to 4 pm SOLD OUT
Scott Arboretum Blum Classroom and Gardens
The Scott Arboretum is known both regionally and nationally for its provocative use of tropicals in the garden. During this workshop Andrew Bunting and Shari Edelson will review several new and exciting tropicals that can be used in containers. They will also demonstrate proper planting techniques and show a variety of interesting containers that can be used to accentuate the colors and textures of tropical plants. Each participant will plant an 18-inch terracotta pot with six tropical plants which they can take home to their garden. All plants and materials are included in the cost of the workshop. Registration is limited to 24. Please dress for being outside.

Guided Tour: A Walk with the Curator

Tours depart from the Scott Arboretum Offices and are free and open to the public.
Join Andrew Bunting, Curator of the Scott Arboretum, for a series of free tours at the Scott Arboretum. "A Walk with the Curator" program, previously only available to interns of the Scott Arboretum, provides an in-depth look at the collections, gardens, and plant selections through the eyes of the man responsible for curating the collection. Andrew Bunting will discuss the most recent accessions acquired for the collection, why plants were removed from the collection and maybe should be removed from your garden, as well as the latest garden designs at the Scott Arboretum. The tours are one Monday each month from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, and the topics are the curator's preference.

Guided Tour: Green Roof Tour

Tours depart from the Scott Arboretum Offices and are free and open to the public.
Learn about the inner-workings, benefits, and beauty of green roofs while exploring the two we have at the Arboretum. Please note the level of difficulty on these tours is higher than others we offer: a brisk walk is required between the two gardens and the second roof is reached only by a narrow, steep ladder. Each of these tours is led by one of the following: Jeff Jabco, Sheila Magee, Dale Nemec, and Lars Rasmussen.

Sunset Sippin': Swamp White Oaks and Whirlwind Wit

Location: Magill Walk
Relax in the shade of our majestic Swamp White Oaks while enjoying the company of friends and the flavors of Whirlwind Wit from Victory Brewery. Enjoy this summer evening with the refreshing interpretation of this classic, Belgian “white beer” and the inspiring presence of the 1881 Magill Walk of Swamp White Oaks at the Scott Arboretum. Entrance fee includes: hors d'oeuvres, tastings of the featured drink, and guided tours.
The evening will also include a raffle for great prizes, as well as tours by Arboretum staff. Tickets are available at the entrance to the event or in advance at 610-328-8025 or click here. Tickets purchased in advance receive a free plant. The cost is $15 for members and $30 for nonmembers.These events are made possible by the support of local breweries, wineries, and distilleries.
