Water conservation is such an important topic we decided to make "Save the Rain!" a FREE event. We hope to see you there, registration is still required. EVENT FULL.

Join Lenny Wilson for an opportunity to learn how to creatively collect and reuse rain water in your garden. We will take a tour of rain saving areas on campus such as the Science Center, Biostream, and the Kemp Hall green roof. We will conclude the class with a demonstration of a rain barrel installation onto the Scott Arboretum building. Information on where to find rain barrels will also be provided. This class will be geared toward beginning to advanced gardeners. Dress for weather and walking. Registration is limited to 24.

Lenny Wilson is a native of Wilmington, Delaware where he currently lives and enjoys a naturalized landscape around his home. In 1992 Lenny joined the grounds department at Swarthmore College as Garden Manager and then in 1999 joined the staff at the Delaware Center for Horticulture where he is currently the Horticulture and Facilities Manager.

The Scott Arboretum has begun a series of lectures, seminars, and workshops that will focus on sustainable practices in the garden. Participants will learn how to protect our planet’s natural systems, become proper land stewards, and encourage wildlife in the garden. Our goal is to have more gardeners adopt sustainable practices in every facet of their home gardens. We are your destination for sustainability education.
