THE SCOTT ARBORETUM OF SWARTHMORE COLLEGE

Conifers

Conifers can be found throughout the Scott Arboretum, with the largest concentration in the Pinetum. They represent the conifers suited for the Mid-Atlantic Region and display the diversity within the group. Pines, cedars, cryptomerias, and spruces are all well represented as are the six genera of deciduous conifers. Areas highlighting conifers include the extensive pinetum, dwarf conifer collection in Bond Courtyard, the metasequoia alleé, and the Juniperus virginiana 'Emerald Sentinel' hardy plant containers in front of Pearson. Pictured below is Cedrus deodara 'Roman Gold', Pinus densiflora 'Umbraculifera', and Sciadopitys verticillata.
