Lilacs
The Lilac collection is the oldest collection at the Arboretum, located between the Meeting House and the Arboretum offices. A grassy path and allee connects the two buildings. The group of almost 90 plants reaches its peak in mid-spring when the sweet scented blooms open and fill the air with their perfume. Many of the cultivars in the collection are from the original planting, including old French selections as well as massive tree lilacs.
