Witchhazels
The Scott Arboretum houses an impressive collection of witchhazels. Most of the nearly 40 types are located around Sharples and the fraternities. When little else provides interest in the winter landscape, the fiery colors of witchhazels illuminate this area and produce a sweet fragrance. Other specimens can be found around campus, including Hamamelis mollis ‘Early Bright’, a cultivar discovered and named at the Arboretum.
