What is a Special Friend?
Special Friends of the Plant Sale help underwrite the costs of staging the sale. 
The Plant Sale is the main fundraising and educational event staged by the Associates to benefit the Arboretum and has drawn 1,500 to 2,000 participants in past years. These successful sales have been held biennially since 1979, allowing the Arboretum to directly fulfill its mission by getting good garden plants into the hands of home gardeners.
As a Special Friend, we acknowledge your financial support by inviting you to the Special Friends Preview Party on Friday, Sept. 7 from 4 to 8 pm. This provides you with an opportunity to be the first to shop at the Plant Sale as well as to enjoy refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. Special Friends who submitted their support by Nov. 15, 2006 will also appear in the 2007 Plant Sale Announcement mailer as well as in the Plant Sale Handbook.
The assistance we receive from Special Friends is crucial to the success of this event. Thank you for considering the opportunity to show your support for the event and the efforts of the 200-plus volunteers who make it happen. We look forward to seeing you this September at the Plant Sale which, we believe, allows the Arboretum to directly fulfill its mission by getting great garden plants to home gardeners.
How do I become a Special Friend?
You can become a Gold or Silver Special Friend. Simple donate $150 for Gold and $75 for Silver to the Associates of the Scott Arboretum. Contact our offices at 610-328-8025 or scott@swarthmore.edu to learn more. Gold level Special Friends receive four donor passes and silver receive two donor passes to the Preview Party.

Silent Auction
The Special Friends’ Preview Party will feature a Silent Auction. A diverse and wonderful selection of approximately 40 items will be available. Please check back periodically as we will be adding new items to the auction block. Click here for complete listing to date.

• A bottle of Mouton Rothschild 1958 – A rare gift. Salvador D
ali label.
• Gary Keim, garden designer, will decorate your home for the holidays. Greens provided by the Scott Arboretum.
• Overnight stay and private tour of Barbara Tiffany’s Mt. Pleasant Garden– in the beautifully restored barn for a party of four.
• A private tour of Polly Hill Arboretum for two on Martha’s Vineyard.
• A one-of-a-kind specially designed hand-wrought garden artifact by Joe Henderson, horticulturist at Chanticleer.
• A private tour of Mt. Cuba Center for four given by Rick Lewandowski, Director of Mt. Cuba Center.
