Gardentopia: Design Basics for Creating Beautiful Outdoor Spaces

How can you shape your yard so that you combine the art of landscaping with the ecological awareness that is so important? This inspiring presentation with Jan Johnsen, will have you seeing all the possibilities your garden area offers. By utilizing such ideas as “hide and reveal,” “lure of the sheltered corner,” and “principle of three depths” you can make your outdoor space a place of beauty and delight.

For four decades, Jan Johnsen has committed herself to creating well-being in the garden through inspired design. Her award-winning landscape design firm, Johnsen Landscapes & Pools, is known for serene and noteworthy landscapes. Trained in landscape architecture and professional horticulture, she has worked in Japan, Hawaii, and Kenya, among other places. She has taught at Columbia University and the New York Botanical Garden. A reception will follow with book sales.

Free and open to the public, space limited to 200. First come, first served. This event is held in the Science Center Room 101.
