Now serving as the Chief Sustainability Officer for the Glenstone Museum in Potomac.\, Md.\, Paul is helping to create a “living classroom” on the all-organic 300-acre site that includes native meadows\, a five-acre organic lawn\, restored streams and tributaries\, forests and more than 11\,000 newly-planted native trees.  \nWinner of the prestigious Communicator of the Year Award from the American Horticultural Society as well as the 2018 Green Medal Award from the Garden Writers of America\, Paul has been featured in thousands of media outlets from Martha Stewart and Good Morning America as well as National Geographic\, Reader’s Digest and the New York Times\, which called him\, “The godfather of the natural land care movement.” He has published four magazines\, including People\, Places & Plants (1995-2009)\, and produced and co-hosted an HGTV show of the same name. In early spring of 2023\, Andrew explored the Peloponnese Peninsula and found many Greek native plants\, including many species of native orchids. He also visited the Greek island of Symi in the Aegean Sea\, not far from Türkiye. Andrew has elevated each of the departments he oversees and has increased the brand and visibility of PHS through their respective work. \nAndrew received his B.S. in Plant and Soil Science from Southern Illinois University. Prior to arriving at PHS\, Andrew worked at Chicago Botanic Garden\, Chanticleer Garden\, and the Scott Arboretum for a tenure of 27 years. He has received the American Public Gardens Association’s Professional Citation\, Chanticleer Scholarship in Professional Development\, and the Certificate of Merit from PHS. He also serves on the Board of Magnolia Society International. Andrew published his first book in 2015\, The Plant Lover’s Guide to Magnolias. Andrew enjoys bird watching\, travel and\, of course\, gardening.

Prior to that she worked at Mt. Cuba Center for the Study of Piedmont Flora in Hockessin\, Delaware for seven years. She holds Masters degrees in ornamental horticulture from Purdue University and the University of Delaware where she was a Longwood Graduate Fellow. She has gardened in Japan\, France\, and Belgium in addition to the U.S. She served as a commissioner for the accreditation program of the American Association of Museums from 2004 to 2010. Her book\, The Authentic Garden: Five Principles for Cultivating a Sense of Place\, was published in 2007 by Timber Press. Claire was awarded the Liberty Hyde Bailey Award from the American Horticultural Society in 2023\, which is the highest award given.

Rachel facilitates Scott Arboretum field trips\, the School’s Out and Nature Nook program and the Chester Children’s Chorus Arboreum Class.  Prior to coming to the Arboretum she was an elementary school teacher in Maryland and Delaware for seven years. Her favorite subject to teach is science and she loves bringing students into nature. In her previous positions she facilitated the school-wide Science Fair\, led after school Yoga/Mindfulness Clubs and organized field trips for the entire grade. Rachel completed a Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership at the University of Delaware following her completion of a B.S. in elementary and special education\, also at the University of Delaware. \nDue to unforeseen circumstances\, Joey Santore will not be presenting on Plant Ecology and Evolution from Around the World.

Her trip aimed to showcase the beauty and botanical diversity of spring in the Central Asian steppe landscape\, from bulbs to rare trees.  \nTravels @ 12 is an online series for plant enthusiasts to vicariously experience gardens and natural spaces throughout the world.  \nRegistration is free\, but required to receive the Zoom webinar and recording links. \n \nProgram Details \n\nThe webinar link will be included in the confirmation email received after registering online.\nThis webinar will be recorded and available for 2 weeks after the presentation.\nRecording link will be available 2 days after the webinar.\nParticipants must download Zoom.\nEmail us  if you have accessibility needs for this program.\nFor more information\, review our program and event policies or call the Scott Arboretum office at 610-328-8025. \n\nAbout the Presenter \nMegan Rossman\, Assistant Horticulturist\, recently completed her Public Horticulture Internship at the Scott Arboretum in spring 2023. She is from Vail\, CO where she gained outdoor experience volunteering at the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and the Vail Valley Mountain Trails Alliance. Holding a bachelors in art history from St. Olaf College in Minnesota\, Megan worked for the Sachs Museum at the Missouri Botanical Gardens doing exhibition research and in the summer of 2021 participated in the Harvard Design Discovery program gaining knowledge in landscape architecture design principles and practices.

DESCRIPTION:Calling all little nature explorers! Join Celeste Sullivan at the Scott Arboretum for mornings full of singing\, stories\, crafts\, and dancing. Each session is seasonally themed around nature and the garden.
