The fungal renaissance is upon us. This is meant to be the ultimate class for people of all ages interested in learning more about the world of mycology, gourmet and medicinal mushrooms, fungal ecology, basic mushroom identification, and, of course: mushroom hunting. Other topics to be discussed include the origins of fungi, history of local commercial mushroom production, mycology for gardeners, and mycotechnologies. Mike Rolli, local gardener, Crum Woods expert, fungal enthusiast, and ethnobotanist will be our guide! The first half of the class will be held outdoors (or indoors in case of inclement weather) and the second half of the class will be a mushroom hunt on campus and in the Crum Woods, rain or shine. Dress for weather and walking; please note this class will cover uneven ground and hills. Limit 25.
