Volunteer Program
The volunteer program is an integral part of the Scott Arboretum. Volunteers aid in the maintainance of our gardens and plant collections as well as providing support to our over 80 horticultural-related education programs held annually.
Arthur Hoyt Scott Medal & Award Program
The Arthur Hoyt Scott Medal & Award is given annually to an individual, organization, or corporate body who has made an outstanding national contribution to the science and the art of gardening.
Community Gardening Program
Scott Associates' may rent for a nominal fee a 10- by 12-foot plot in the community garden on the corner of Havard and Yale Avenues in Swarthmore, PA. The Community Garden Plot Guidelines outline the program. Garden plots are not transferable from year to year and are assigned on a first-come first-served basis in early spring. Internship Program
We offer internships to individuals interested in ornamental horticulture. Summer positions are available as well as two one-year intern position.
Swarthmore College Student Employee Program
The Scott Arboretum provides a variety of “real world” work experiences for Swarthmore College students to gain exposure to aspects of public horticulture. This expereince includes not-for-profit organization programs, collections management, special events, and membership management through a variety of part-time positions offered during the academic year and/or as summer internship positions.
