Hydrangea quercifolia

Oakleaf hydrangea produces very profuse showy creamy bloom-cone. This lavish bloom will catch your eye even from a distance. The foliage is also a great feature with deep lobed leaves and purple fall color. Experience this gem for yourself at the front corner of Parrish Hall. photo credit: V. Cornaglia

Opuntia humifusa

Prickly pear cactus is a low growing plant with beautiful bright lemon colored flowers. It flowers from late May to early July, but it has ornamental value in other seasons due to its bright green pads. The pads have small green thorns on them giving a unique groundcover look. Find this cactus along the walkways of the John W. Nason Garden. photo credit: V. Cornaglia

Schizophragma hydrangeoides ‘Moonlight’

Although the silver-green leaves of Japanese climbing hydrangea are attractive, the showy blooms make this vine a standout. The flowers are very broad with flattened heads and small outer creamy white flowers. This show stopper will catch your eye in full bloom on Clothier Memorial Hall. photo credit: V. Cornaglia
