Opuntia humifusa

Prickly pear cactus is a low growing plant with beautiful bright lemon colored flowers. It flowers from late May to early July, but it has ornamental value in other seasons due to its bright green pads. The pads have small green thorns on them giving a unique groundcover look. Schizophragma hydrangeoides ‘Moonlight’

Although the silver-green leaves of Japanese climbing hydrangea are attractive, the showy blooms make this vine a standout.
