Beginner Botanical Watercolor Workshop

The exciting imagery of botanical art, a centuries-old practice, is currently making a resurgence. Explore plant life’s realistic details using graphite pencils in combination with watercolor paint. Laura Bethmann, artist and author, will demonstrate basic techniques with step by step examples. Participants will begin with simple practice sketches and develop a 3-dimensional image with highlights, shading, and washes of color. Registration includes all supplies to keep after the workshop, including a set of Winsor & Newton watercolor paints and two brushes. Class size limited to 18. Register by March 30.

Laura Bethmann is a watercolor painter who gardens, prints plants, and writes books, including  Nature Printing and Hand Printing From Nature. Her original watercolor paintings and original nature print paintings are in many collections and are exhibited in museums and galleries. 

Laura’s deep appreciation for nature, Master Gardener training, and continual research inform her work as an artist, author, and workshop leader. When not tending her garden or visiting gardens, she can most often be found squirreled away working in her studio, which is located in a tiny southern New Jersey town between the Pine Barrens (an International Biosphere Reserve) and the coast.
