Heritage Tree Tour: Summer Splendor

June 29, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

FREE

This tour is canceled due to poor air quality. Thank you for your interest in this program.

Old trees, big trees, rare trees– we have them all! Join Curator and Plant Recorder Mary Tipping for a summer evening tour of the most valuable trees in our collections. Each Heritage Tree has been qualified as such due to the combination of its age, health, historical and/or cultural significance, and relative rarity in both the world and locally. This qualification helps us communicate their importance and preserve these trees into the future.

Mary Tipping joined the Scott Arboretum as Curator and Plant Recorder in 2015. From 2008 to 2015, she served as Arboretum Horticulturist at Delaware Valley University’s Henry Schmieder Arboretum, where her responsibilities included the collections database administration for the 40-acre arboretum. She has earned an M.S. in Crop Sciences from the University of Illinois, and a B.S. in Horticulture from Temple University. Mary is also a PA Certified Horticulturist and ISA Certified Arborist.
