Travels @ 12: Visiting Gardens and Nurseries in Denmark. How Hygge (HOO-gah) Is That?

January 26, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

Join Jeff Jabco for a tour of gardens, nurseries and historical sites in Denmark as he recollects his trip with the International Clematis Society in July 2022.  Even though Denmark is much farther north, the climate is much like we have in southeastern Pennsylvania (but not as hot and humid in the summer).  The Danes are known for their friendliness, for being generally happy and for their love of the outdoors.  We’ll learn why this is true…the tour then finishes up with a few sites near Hamburg, Germany.

Travels @ 12 is an online series for plant enthusiasts to vicariously experience gardens and natural spaces throughout the world. Registration is free but required. Participants must download Zoom. The webinar link will be included in the confirmation email received after registering online. Email scott@swarthmore.edu  if you have accessibility needs for this program.

Jeff Jabco, Director of Grounds and Coordinator of Horticulture, has been on staff since 1990. Before coming to Swarthmore, he worked for Penn State University Cooperative Extension as a horticulture agent in southeastern Pennsylvania; he also owned and operated a garden design and vegetable production business. He is a graduate of Penn State University and has a Master’s degree from North Carolina State University in Horticulture/Plant Breeding and Plant Pathology.
